Under the Blaze

(Pre-Production)

On a sun-baked earth where toil goes endless, the young child’s life is molded by clay and sweat among the brick kiln. This hand-drawn animated short, film by Awais Shaukat, depicts resistance in the face of great odds.

It is a flickering story of fragile hope for education and freedom, spoken in the silence of a child’s battle between the harsh realities and stubborn dreams.

A cinematic poster for the upcoming Pakistani animated short film Under the Blaze. The design showcases a sun-drenched, clear blue sky taking up the upper half, with the film title Under the Blaze in elegant, serif black font at the center. Beneath it reads: "A Film by Awais Shaukat." The credits mention direction by Awais Shaukat, production by Rafhan Shaukat, original story and storyboarding by Awais Shaukat, screenplay by Omer Bin Safia, and production by Awartsy Animations. The lower half illustrates a young boy, barefoot in a white sleeveless shirt and loose grey trousers, standing on a harvested wheat field. He gazes toward the horizon with one hand shielding his eyes from the blazing sun. The field is golden-brown with stacks of cut wheat, leading to a distant industrial chimney billowing dark smoke against the vibrant sky. Green trees and rustic buildings dot the background, capturing a raw rural atmosphere. The visual style is inspired by Studio Ghibli and Makoto Shinkai — reflecting hand-drawn, painterly animation with cinematic composition and detailed light effects, making it a unique Pakistani anime-style short film. At the bottom, bold white text reads: COMING SOON IN 2025. The logo of Awartsy sits just below the credits in minimal black text.
